Dr. Fernando Herrera Pons holds a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he also earned an MBA and a Master’s in Administration. He further obtained an MSc in Information Management from Lancaster University (United Kingdom). His academic profile is complemented by a PhD in Business and Management, with a focus on SMEs, entrepreneurship, and family business from the University of Cantabria (Spain).
His career path bridges technical rigor, management, and a broad perspective on economic and social development. Over three decades at Tecnológico de Monterrey, he held various academic and leadership roles, including Coordinator of the Industrial and Systems Engineering department and Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Division. Additionally, he spearheaded the planning, design, and operation of the CIEN Technology Park. He is a certified professor in PBL (Problem-Based Learning) and POL (Project-Oriented Learning) methodologies and has been recognized for his excellence in teaching and significant institutional contributions.
In parallel, he has collaborated with government bodies and planning agencies as a facilitator and advisor on innovation, competitiveness, and regional development. His work is grounded in values of trust, integrity, and responsibility, utilizing competencies in strategic planning, business transformation, process improvement, and systemic thinking to address complex situations with high-impact solutions.
He has maintained a sustained engagement with the ecosystem in Guanajuato and León—including the public sector, business chambers, clusters, and research centers—promoting competitiveness with a focus on equity and inclusion. Since 2018, he has served as the founding partner and CEO of Gnosis XXI, where he focuses his expertise on regional development, innovation, and building networks for entrepreneurship.
