A reflection on reality

Published by the 12 of March of 2026 en Business environment, Global environment, Regional development

The year 2026 has arrived with many surprises, some pleasant and others not. What is clearly visible are the changes in the world order and the way countries and communities relate, trade, and engage with one another.

This leads us to the question of whether we are prepared, or at least aware, of what is happening and what lies ahead. Recognizing that many things will evolve, others will return, and still others will disappear requires us to use all our abilities and skills to seize opportunities and face challenges effectively, utilizing resources in the most efficient way and contributing effectively to the achievement of higher-level objectives.

All knowledge helps, all experience offers wise counsel, but the stance we take to live in the present and build the future will be fundamental so that in a few years we can declare our mission accomplished.

A great opportunity arises from knowing how to connect with and listen to diverse perspectives and interests before making conclusions. In Mexico and Latin America, it’s very clear: it’s very beneficial to have a shared vision built on identifying what unites us, negotiating what differs, and accepting what must be eliminated. It’s about not closing ourselves off to dogmatic or doctrinaire thinking, but rather, through communication, participation, collaboration, and the desire to seek the common good, and acting on the basis of truth, whatever it may be.

Identifying what is worthwhile, what makes us grow, what fosters development is fundamental. Having a clear vision of the world we desire and are willing to build leads us to have dreams and to accompany them with strategies and actions that establish a shared vision.

Systems thinking invites us to rise a few levels to observe the environment more clearly and how the different levels of analysis and understanding integrate, as well as how strategies, tactics, and actions should be structured to achieve the proposed objectives. Using approaches like Peter B. Checkland’s Soft Systems Methodology helps us remember the importance of recognizing different perspectives and integrating them to guide us in articulating diverse interests. This allows us to analyze, propose, and offer solutions to complex problems like those we face today, whether for a country, a company, a business sector, or a community.

These times call for in-depth analysis and synthesis of reality and different environments. A deeper understanding that answers the what, where, when, why, and for what purpose allows us to use analytical thinking, solid technical foundations, and a commitment to good character and ethical conduct to build the future we desire, day by day.

Today is the day; yesterday provides us with experiences, and the future is the stage for creating and building what we want through actions and decisions made in the present moment.

A changing world, fraught with complex problems, becomes a sea of opportunities to contribute to society with solutions that will bring wealth and well-being to those who can address both new and old demands, as well as to society at any scale (family, community, city, state, country, continent, global).

Let’s take action, let’s use our most valuable asset to move forward: knowledge. And let’s always accompany it with passion for what we do and for building a better world.
